New Centre Fit Outs

Palmerston North Hospital Whanau Room

What used to be an empty space in the hospital’s emergency department has been transformed into a beautiful playroom. Designed, built, and installed by Play’n’Learn.

According to Trauma Nurse Specialist Sonya Rider, the playroom had to meet several requirements. It needed to be suitable for children of all ages, easy to clean and maintain infection control standards, durable, calming for families, and equipped with items to distract children. We are pleased to report that we were able to deliver on all of these requirements.

This new playroom is just the first step in a much larger project. We are thrilled to be part of the effort to create a dedicated Emergency Department for children within the existing footprint of Palmerston North Hospital. This new department will feature a separate waiting and treatment area designed to meet the unique physical and emotional needs of children.

At Play’n’Learn, we are honoured to have the opportunity to assist with such a worthy project. We have provided hospital-quality FF&E, as well as sensory products designed to help children regulate their emotions and engage in fun activities during what can be a stressful ED visit.
