Halswell Quarry Preschool and Play’n’Learn partnered to design and deliver a sensory-rich home-away-from-home, designed with the elements of what makes growing up in New Zealand special.
Play’n’Learns brief was to develop interior learning environments that inspire curiosity, foster creativity and support discovery with a variety of sensory-rich experience spaces.
Completed in August 2020, Halswell Quarry Preschool’s learning environments have exceeded all expectations, providing endless learning opportunities and evoking amazing feedback from parents, whanau, teachers, and most importantly, the children that now attend!
Co-Owner Kathryn Palliser explains; “Everybody has walked in and gone ‘Wow, this is amazing’ and you can walk around and see how settled the children are. We’ve only been open one week – that shows that the environments are working well for the children.”

This premium early childhood centre has gain enrolments very quickly, and we are excited to check back in with the team there regularly to document the positive impact that the learning environments are inspiring young minds!
Co-Owner Clarke Mauger had some very kind feedback for our consulting and design team: “I like working with people that are passionate.
