Play’n’Learn is delighted to present this radical environment transformation, at Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association: Pacific Early Learning Community Centre!
Pacific Early Learning Community Centre’s serving the Mangere community, licenced for 30 places. When Inano from Counties Manukau contacted Play’n’Learn, Pacific Early Learning Community Centre was in need for an environment refurbishment to improve the learning experience for tamariki and develop a sense of place for teachers, families, and children.
After meeting with Inano, our lead consultant Darren Witty, developed a brief for the refurbishment. Our vision for Pacific Early Learning Community Centre was to design and deliver an environment where children can learn at their own pace with furniture that envelops an atmosphere of calm and quality. Of all importance is developing a sense of place; reflecting the Pasifika culture and the philosophy of Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association. The desired outcome was to attract teaching talent, amaze parents, and truly help the children in our care to prosper.
Inano summarises the transformation best: “With the recent refurbishment of our furniture, it’s just made it feel like home. With the different shapes, the different areas of learning… the furniture has just made it a lot more unique. We walk in through the door and just feel happy.”
It’s been a privilege to assist the Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association in improving their learning environments, and creating a much stronger sense of place for the majority of Pasifika families that Pacific Early Learning Community Centre serves.
